Bought my first bike here in 1948

Bought my BSA cycle here in 1957. I was 13 paid for with pocket money from working as a delivery boy at Parade Fruit and Vegetables, the parade the top of Colney Hatch lane. We lived opposite across the road at 7 Priory Villas. I also had a paper round at the time at the newsagents at the parade around from the Orange Tree Pub, I forget the name of the row of shops.
My dad and Nan bought my first bike from here. I wonder if Mr Oscroft was related to the East London Group artist Grace Oscroft. There was an Oscroft Brothers Cycle shop in Bow where she lived. It seems an unusual name for there not to be a connection - especially with the two cycle shops. In the 1920s she exhibited with the rest of the East London Group alongside Picasso, Gaugin, C├ęzanne, Degas and Renoir
