My family lived in Sutton Road, N.10 between 1939 and 1967. We used Torry's frequently during those years. We used to buy Dad's Boar's Head Tobacco there. He rolled the aromatic strands in Rizla cigarette papers and smoked them all the time. I bought porcelain 'bodies' intended for topping knitted tea cosies in Torry's. I used them as puppets, as there were few toys during the war years. Boot mender: R.Mole had the shop next to Torry's. We thought that name hilarious.

We (the Lewis family) lived on Wetherill Road from 1939-1948, I remember vividly, buying the paper for my Dad and reading that Roosevelt had died.......along with many more headlines!!! Thanks for the memories, Anne

Thank you for uploading Anne's comment on Torry's. Those were the days! - when shops were shops - each one individual and always very interesting. June.
