Junction of Grove Road and Bowes Road. This photograph of a horse drinking trough was taken in the 1960s. These were common sights on the streets before the coming of the motor car.

I was born in a house in Bowes Road in 1943. The house was 100 yards from the horse trough which was a popular place to meet friends when going out to play. We loved to watch the horses drinking.
