Campe Almshouses, Friern Barnet Lane

There are six almshouses which date from 1612 when Lawrence Campe gave money for 'the free harbour and dwelling of twelve persons, or more, for ever'. In 1984 twelve additional dwellings, designed by local architect John Phillips, were added at the rear of the almshouses. Photograph taken in November 2000

In 1891 my GG grandfather Charles Baker, was a caretaker living in Friern Lodge next door to the alms houses in Friern Lane. I assume this is the almhouses but is there a photo of the Lodge?
This is a great collection.

The lodge you refer to is actually at the entrance to North Middlesex Golf Club, on the opposite side of Friern Barnet Lane to the almshouses. See picture #2123.
