A bit misleading, because this picture is taken looking at shops on Finchley High Road, the old A1. The boundary between Friern Barnet and Finchley was further down Torrington Park, just before Friary Road. I lived on Torrington Park from 1955 until 1968 and before that on Friern Barnet Lane, so I know the area well, albeit from over 50 years ago. I also notice elsewhere there are photo's of North Finchley, which is not in Friern Barnet. The Parlimentary Constituency at the time was Finchley and Friern Barnet, with Margaret Thatcher being the most famous MP from the Constituency.

My apologies to the organisers, at the time of writing my comments I had not realised that it was Friern Barnet and District on which the society focus. Being Friern Barnet born and bred I only saw the bit I wanted to see! I stand corrected.
